1. Always test before you print

This is the single most important thing on this page. A QR code that fails after ten thousand menus have been printed is an expensive problem, and it is entirely avoidable.

Before committing anything to print:

• Scan the code with at least two different phones, ideally one iPhone and one Android device
• Check the size calculator for your scanning distance
• Test at the actual size and on the actual material you will use
• Test at the distance and lighting people will really scan from
• Check that the destination page loads and looks right on a phone
• Print a single proof copy and scan that, rather than testing only on screen

We provide the generator. Confirming the result is fit for your purpose is your responsibility.

2. We cannot guarantee any code will scan

Whether a code reads depends on things outside our control: the camera and software on the scanning device, the printer and its resolution, the paper or material, the ink, the lighting, the viewing angle, the contrast between your chosen colours, and whether the surface is curved, creased, wet or damaged.

Our guides on print size, error correction and common failures explain how to give yourself the best chance, but no generator can promise a universal read.

3. Codes cannot be changed after they are made

Every code from this site is static. The destination is encoded in the pattern. Once printed, it cannot be repointed. If your web address may change, encode a link to a page you control and update that page instead of the code.

4. Guides are general information, not advice

The articles on this site are general information about how QR codes work. They are not legal, financial, medical, or professional advice, and they are not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your circumstances.

Where a guide touches on payments, this matters especially. Rules for payment codes such as UPI differ by country and by payment provider, and they change. Confirm requirements with your bank or payment provider before accepting money through a code.

5. Accuracy

We try to keep everything here correct and current, but we make no representation that it is complete, accurate, or up to date. Specifications, device behaviour and third-party services change. If you spot something wrong, please tell us at contact@gen-qr-code.com and we will fix it.

6. External links

This site links to other websites, and codes you create will point at destinations we do not control. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, security or availability of any external site, and a link is not an endorsement.

7. Scanning codes safely

A QR code is only as trustworthy as whoever placed it. Codes can point anywhere, including at fraudulent pages, and stickers placed over legitimate codes are a common scam. Preview the address before opening it, be sceptical of any code that asks for payment or login details, and read our guide on QR code safety.

8. Limitation

To the extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for loss or damage arising from reliance on anything on this site, or from the use of any code generated here. This includes reprinting costs, lost business, and missed scans. See our terms of service for the full position.
