Terms of service

Last updated 3 September 2026

1. Agreement

These terms govern your use of gen-qr-code.com. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site.

2. What you may do with the codes

The site is free to use, and you may use the QR codes you generate for any lawful purpose, including commercial ones. Print them on menus, packaging, signage, business cards and advertising. No attribution is required, no watermark is applied, and there is no limit on the number of codes you create or the number of times they are scanned.

You own whatever you encode. We claim no rights over the content you put into a code or over the image files you download.

3. Acceptable use

You must not use this site to create codes that:

The last of these deserves emphasis. Covering a legitimate payment or menu code with a sticker bearing your own is a recognised fraud pattern. It is a criminal offence in most jurisdictions.

You also must not attempt to disrupt the site, or scrape it in a way that degrades service for others.

4. Codes are static

Every code this site produces is static: the data is held inside the pattern itself. Our comparison of static and dynamic codes explains the trade-off. There is no redirect through our servers, which is why the codes keep working indefinitely and why we never see your scans.

The consequence is that a code cannot be edited once created. If you print a code pointing at a particular address, that is where it will point forever. If you expect the destination to change, encode a link to a page you control and change that page instead.

5. No warranty

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular code will be readable by any particular device.

Test every code before you print it, using more than one phone. See our disclaimer for more on this.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site. This includes the cost of reprinting materials that carry a code which did not work as you expected.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid to use this site, which is nothing. The service is free, carries no advertising, and we take no payment from you at any point.

7. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site at any time without notice. Codes you have already downloaded are unaffected by this, since they do not depend on us remaining online.

8. Intellectual property

The site design, text, and code are ours or our licensors'. You may not copy the site wholesale to operate a competing service. This does not restrict your use of the QR images you generate.

"QR Code" is a registered trademark of Denso Wave Incorporated. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Denso Wave. Other product and company names mentioned on this site are the trademarks of their respective owners, and are used only to describe what a generator does.

9. Third-party destinations

Codes you create may point at websites and services we have no control over. We are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices.

10. Your local rights

This site is offered free of charge and worldwide, and we do not impose a choice of court on you. If you are a consumer, you keep every mandatory protection that the law of your own country of residence gives you, and nothing in these terms takes those away.

In practice, almost anything that goes wrong here is solved faster by email than by anyone going near a court. Write to contact@gen-qr-code.com and we will try to put it right.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

12. Contact
